After successfully launching The Busylizzy Club as a franchise, we reached a natural tipping point. The model was proven, the foundations were in place, but we were still growing cautiously. Like many founders, we were balancing operations with ambitions. We knew the model had potential to scale quickly, but scaling meant letting go of some control and doubling down on the systems, people and processes required to make that growth possible.
Solution
We made a conscious decision to change gear and prioritise franchise growth. That meant putting the right funding, people and infrastructure in place to enable faster, smarter expansion.
One of the most powerful tools was finance. By securing 70 percent funding for new franchisees through bank-approved business plans and a pre-accredited franchise model, we opened the doors to more prospective owners. That made our franchise accessible to people who were the right fit but didn’t have the full funds upfront.
We clarified and streamlined our recruitment process. Every stage, from enquiry to interview to onboarding, became more focused. We automated and digitised as much of the journey as possible, which reduced the admin load and helped create a consistent experience.
We also took a bold step. We sold our owner-operated Busylizzy Club so we could focus entirely on running the franchise. By offloading day-to-day delivery, we freed ourselves up to build the network and support new franchisees.
We invested in additional support across recruitment, training and operations. This allowed us to give franchisees a better experience from the moment they joined. Our franchise portal continued to evolve, streamlining everything from onboarding and training to marketing and compliance.
Finally, we expanded our management team. Growth isn’t sustainable without people to support it. We brought in trusted team members with the right expertise to ensure no area of the business got left behind.
Results
Within 18 months, we grew from a handful of locations to 18 franchisees. The process was smoother, faster and less stressful than our early-stage growth because we had made the right investments in people, systems and processes. The brand became more valuable, the community stronger and the future clearer.
